Do you enjoy helping others to understand their diet and how nutrition affects their wellbeing?  This one-year full-time course will offer you the opportunity to learn about diet and nutrition as well as gain the skill to share this knowledge with others. You will discover how our health and well-being are impacted by our diet & behaviour.  Learn how to promote positive lifestyle choices and healthy eating – assists clients to achieve their goals around health, food, eating and lifestyle. The aim of the course is to provide the skills necessary for a career in the nutrition or general healthcare area. This programme is ideal for both school leavers and experienced mature persons seeking a formal education.

2020/21 Applications are now open, and free and easy. CAO points not required. Grant and Social Welfare funding available. To apply online now for September you will just need to provide two essential pieces of information: your email address and your PPS number. Look for this course under Applied Science.

Entry Requirements

CAO points not required. All applicants will be required to attend an application review to discuss the course suitability for the learner and to establish that all applications meet the minimum requirements:

Leaving Certificate or equivalent. For mature applicants appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.


QQI Level 5 Certificate in Community Health Services 5M4468.

Work Placement / Experience

Work experience is an integral part of this course. Participants will be required to undertake a 60 hour duration work placement. The dates will be specified by the college in September.
