National Framework of Qualifications
The National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) is a system of 10 levels to represent all levels of formal learning from the very initial stages to the most advanced stages as set national standard.
Further Education College courses are at QQI Level 5 and 6.
Level 5 qualifications are equivalent to achieving an Honours Leaving Certificate and allow learners to progress within the College to Level 6 Advanced Certificates.
Graduates with QQI Level 5 Certificates and and Level 6 Advanced Certificates have the opportunity to apply for Level 6, Level 7 or Level 8 college places in over 40 participating Universities and Institutes of Technology nationwide.
Our College QQI Progression guide is kept up to date with QQI links, requirements, and special agreements continually expanding the progression opportunities for learners seeking to progress to Higher Education.
Available to registered learners at https://onlinecollege.etbonline.ie/course/view.php?id=451
We are part of the Cork Colleges Progression Scheme (CCPS) with MTU Cork (formerly CIT).
Our QQI applicants have reserved places in UCC, UL, and Mary Immaculate College.
We have special advanced agreements with MTU Kerry, bonus points and reserved places with LIT, and are part of the CETB/WIT progression agreement.
There are opportunities for College graduates to progress to over 40 Universities and Institutes of Technology across Ireland as well as special progression agreements and relationships with Universities in the UK and the Netherlands.
Maths for Progression
Learners on every course have the opportunity to study for Level 5 Mathematics to make up any progressions requirements instead of a Leaving Certificate Mathematics grade.
Arrange a personal or virtual visit to your school or educational setting for information about our College and courses, support services, funding options, and QQI progression to third level.
We’re here to answer all your questions – from educators and learners.
Course-taster events and open days give second-level learners the opportunity to visit the College and their options in Further Education.
